Sometimes people tell me, “I want to do what you do.”

That’s a nice compliment because it means they think I am successful at something. But when I tell them I’ve been writing professionally for 16 years they don’t like that timeline.

I wish success was faster. I do. It’d be a lot easier and more people could enjoy it. But the truth is, success is slow.

Case in point, here are the first 90 days of blog traffic I got.

Traffic

Go ahead and soak that in.

I averaged 34 unique visitors a day for the first. Baller!

The first year I was able to get that number up to 81 readers a day. I was killing it!

For an entire year I posted and posted and posted. And barely anyone read, but that didn’t matter in the end. Why? Because I knew success was slow.

If you’re writing a book, writing a blog or starting a business, don’t get discouraged. Keep going. Don’t give up!

Take your time. We all want success tomorrow, but that’s not how it works.

Question
Do you ever feel impatient with your dream, that success is taking too long?
