empty ads

Above is the fourth book I read for the #EmptyShelf Challenge. (Read here to join us on this fun challenge!)

Below is the format I plan to do this year for each book I read.

Title: The Wizard of Ads

Author: Roy H. Williams

What’s it about: Looking at the world (and advertising) through a completely different filter.

Why did I read it: Williams is one of the smartest, most insightful authors I’ve ever read. Early in my advertising career I bumped into his books and really enjoy the way he thinks.

Favorite idea: It’s packed with great content, but my favorite idea is probably the one where he talks about “leaving something on the table.” He says that in business you always need to leave room for someone to be generous to you. When we try to squeeze out every last drop of value from our business deals we end up being greedy.

Where can you buy it?: Right here.
